SCRAPBOOK SHOP |

MAKE A SCRAPBOOK SHOP DVD
On this DVD which I got from www.ashdown.co.uk(Dolls House World) Joyce DEAN creates a wonderful scrapbook shop. She shows, step by step, how she made everthing, from display boards to shop counters or tiny cards, stickers and all sorts of embellishments.
Up until that day, I didn't even really know what scrapbooking was all about.
I had to research a lot on the Internet and thanks to all the wonderful scrapbooking online shops, and after a lot of printing, downscaling and cutting out, my shop finally began to grow. I started with the items to put inside the shop before making the shop itself.
SHOP SIGN
To start the tour through all the items I've made so far, here's my little shop sign I made ...... the name of the shop is of course "DANIELLE'S LITTLE SCRAPBOOK SHOP"
MAGAZINE RACK
This magazine rack was the very first thing I made. I was a lot of fun to make all the little magazines first and after that of course, the rack itself, which, like usual, has been made from leftover pieces of wood.
THE "PAPER" DEPARTMENT
As you can clearly see on this picture, the PAPER DEPARTMENT has become quite big. And every little case is filled with another paper. I did sthe COPY/PASTE thing so often that at some point, I just stoped counting. But apparently, all these special and different papers are a very useful item to make your own little scrapbook.
EMBELLISHMENTS
Yes, EVERY SINGLE little box is filled with something different here. I made the boxes first, all the same size, with one template used on colored think cardboard. And I started to fill the boxes with all kinds of things ....... here again, the online shops on the Internet were very very helpful, since I didn't know at all what EMBELLISHMENTS were. Take a closer look at the pics below, I added just a few to give you an idea.
Here again, the little piece of furniture was made after I finished filling the tiny boxes. At least, I could make sure that they did all fit in there.
FILLED BOXES
Just in case somebody does not believe me when I said all the boxes were filled ;-)
CUT-OUTS AND MORE
On little table display, we have cutouts, stickers, pencils, glues and rubber stamps.
STAMPS
Here is a wall hanging rack with little stamps. Needless to say what the rack has been made of, I guess.
What would I possibly do without my box with all the leftover pieces of wood ?
RIBBONS
Here are two pieces with little ribbons on the roll. You can either have them standing on the floor or hang them on the wall, whatever suits you best, depending of the size of your shop of course.
BUTTONS
After I made all these tiny little boxes with bottons, another usufull item for scrapbooking, I first wanted to put them in my little boxes and add them to the EMBALLISHMENT department.
But I just made too many and so I had to make an extra little piece of furniture to fill in only the button boxes.
SELF-ADHESIVE STICKERS
I made a few of these items which I can hang on the wall, since this option saves a little space for other things inside the shop.
Here we have self-adhesive stickers. Each one is if course a complete D.I.Y. item.
BEADS
Another one with different sorts of beads.
TAGS
And here we have tags, which seems to be an items often used in scrapbooking too.
CARDSTOCK STICKERS
This one has cardstock stickers. Believe me, it is a very time consuming job making all these little items, but it is even more fun.
CARDS
This one here with differents sorts of cards was my first try. I had all the help I needed here from Joyce Dean and the DVD "Making a Scrabpook Shop".
RAPPING PAPER
This item was easy, since I only had to cut out a few pieces colored paper, roll them and put a little bit of glue to hold the roll. And while going through my things in search of something completely different, I found this little container and there you go and have your little rapping paper.
GIFT VOUCHERS
Aren't they cute, my little gift vouchers ? With the name of the shop of course and we have them in 4 variations, 10 $, 20 $, 30 $ and 50 $. I always need my personal little touches on all my projects.
SHOPPING BAGS
Another personal little touch are my shopping bags, with the shop name of course and they come in 2 sizes.
ON SALE ITEMS
I think in a shop like this one, there are always some closeout articles which you might wanna sell ON SALE. The trunk was made out of a template from www.printmini.com (here the direct link to it : http://www.printmini.com/printables/trunks/trunkliner2.shtml
I filled it with things that just came through my mind, like f.ex. items I had already made and didn't not where to put them or maybe items that I didn't really like after I finished them. You can put all sorts of stuff in there.
I also made these tiny little tags "ON SALE" and you can find those all over the shop.
RUBBER STAMPS
Here we have a box of rubber stamps, very easy to make with Joyce Dean's instructions. And as usual, please use your own imagination and you will be even more pleased with the final result.
METAL TACKS
These little metal tacks are used for a number of things in making a scrapbook album. Maybe I should have made a bigger stock, I think these will sell out quickly.
ALBUMS
Of course, on of the most important items in a scrapbook shops are the ALBUMS. I made 2 different sizes and I hope that my customers will be happy with the choice.
SCISSORS
Of course, scissors will always be needed in making an nice scrapbook album. These are not "D.I.Y." scissors, I had those from an online shop. Usually you get them in packages with 3, 5 or even 10 in it, not very expensive.
MORE CLOSEOUTS
As I said before, I will not be carrying some items in the future, so they will be sold as closeouts, and at special prices of course.
Here, again, I just used items I had no other use for. It's the easiest way to fill these boxes.
CARDSTOCK
What would a scrapbook shop be without a stock of colored cardstock ? One of the easiest things to make. Again, the trunk is from http://www.printmini.com and the cardstock has just been cut out to the correct size, a few of each color, and that's it.
PAPER PUNCHES
This box contains paper punches, anoter easy item to make.
INK PADS
INK PADS are another usufull item in scrapbooking. The same technique is of course used here again. Just do the COPY/PASTE from an online scrapbooking shop, save your document (either WORD, PUBLISHER or POWERPOINT) scale them to the correct size and print. After cutting them out, just glue the items either on some foam or any other you have in stock to make it look like little pads.
RUB ON'S on sale
This box contains some more closeout items, this time it's rub on's. Again, you have the little ON SALE tag on the box.
THE OFFICE
I thought that everybody who runs a shop needs a little office to keep all sorts of files, bills and other stuff that one might need to run a little business like this. Therefore I made this little office table (which I bought already assembled, but not painted) and then filled it.
In this pic, the computer you see is a cut-out but I didn't like it and I decided to buy one for my office ..... looks much better.
THE OFFICE INSIDE THE SHOP
Unfortunately I had not enough space to make a bigger office, but in miniature, almost as in real life, there is always a solution to any problem regarding space.
This little office space is right behind the entrance door and there is a little wall, not very high though, seperating that space from the rest of the shop. I kept the wall this height because it would allow me to see a customer entering the shop while I would be working on my computer (by the way, this computer here is the one I bought instead of the one made of paper).
THE SHOP COUNTER
I added lots of details to this corner of my shop, especially to the counter. There are 2 Manhattan phone books, a jar of lolllipops for customers with smaller children, a phone, my shopping bags, the gift vouchers, etc.
WINDOW 1
WINDOW 2
THE WALL
Here you get a closer look at that little wall I made to seperate the office from the shop. I added a few nice details on the side that the customers in the shop will be able to see, like pages from scrapbooking albums f.ex.
DOORS AND WINDOWS
At this stage, I just finished painting the main entrance door and the windows, 2 on the front and 2 side windows. Since the outside color of my shop has a nice shade of grey, I thought it would be a nice idea to add some color here.
SHOP FRONT
Here is the shop front, with the door and windows inserted, the shop sign added as well as a few flowers.
LET'S GO SHOOPING
Well since my shop will be opening very soon, I invited my friend Terry to have a first glimpse at the inside. You can see her going through the magazines here.
THE SHOP
Well, this is how my shop looks at this day, September 28th, 2008 ! It's not completely finished on the outside and the glass top needs to be put in place. But other than that, I think I can be proud of all my copy/paste, printing, cutting out etc. because the shop looks really great.
As soon as it will be completely finished, I will of course make an update and add the latest pics of the finished project.
I hope you had fun here and I'll be looking forward seeing you in my shop :-)
LAST CHECK BEFORE THE BIG OPENING
Here is the shop almost completed. I will add 1 more pic once it is really finished. Wait and see .................... :-) But it already looks inviting, don't you think ?
THE GRAND OPENING
FINALLY ! The Big Shop Opening Day has arrived. The girls are shopping inside and, as usual, the boys are waiting outside :-). As you can see, little shopping bags, nicely filled, are already there.
Let's take a look at the customers inside.
CUSTOMERS ON OPENING DAY
This young girls seems to be very interested by the big paper department.
ANOTHER CUSTOMER

Here's another young lady especially interest by the embellishments. Hopefully she'll find what's she's looking for, since there's a really big choice available here.
THE BUSY OWNER
