THE FLOWER SHOP |
THE SHOP KIT
The size is just perfect for a flower shop, not too big, not too small. It has two big shop windows, one on each side of the front door, to allow a good view inside.
I have not decided yet exactly about how the interior or the exterior will look .............. Surprise !!!

WORK IN PROGRESS
As you can see in this picture, I've been working a lot on my flowers these last few weeks. At some point, I had to start with the interior of the shop to make sure that all my flowers will fit. Miniature Flower making is really a wonderful thing and I'm enjoying it as you can see :-)
There are just so many items that you can buy in different kind of hobby shops (especially since there are no dollhouse shops around where I live) and you can just go ahead and make all kinds of flower arrangements.
I made some flowers from kits (Bonnie Lavish). I'll add some pictures of those later.

Fresh Flowers to make Bouquets
This corner of the shop holds all the vases with the fresh flowers, to make wonderful "Bouquet's". I ordered a lot of these flowers online, since I thought that I might never be able to make them myself. But later, I tried myself in "Flowermaking" and it worked out quite well.

MAY 6th 2009
As you can see from the previous pics, I changed the interior slightly. I installed the lights and they work !!!! Wiring ...... It's not really what I like most about miniatures, lol, but it adds so much life to a miniature scence once the lights work, it's worth it, believe me !!

LA PARADIS DES FLEURS
I chose that name because flowers generally make me happy and I always imagine that if "Paradise" exists, there would be lots and lots of flowers :-) ..... who knows. I guess, everybody has it's own image of Paradise.

Fleurs et Bouquets
Sometimes, when we travel, I look around and catch a glimpse of a little shop here and there and it's always interesting how they "advertise" on the front of the shop what kind of services they offer, like f.ex. in my little flower shop, you can read over the window on the left "Fleurs et Bouquets" (fresh flowers and lovely bouquets) and ....
Plantes et Arrangements
.... over the window on the right side, the sign says "Plantes / Arrangements" (all sorts of green house plants and any kind of flower arrangements in differents kinds of pots).
LITTLE SIGNS
I also added little signs that the owner of the shop speaks english and german, since Paris is an international city and it wouldn't be enough to speak just french.
GREEN HOUSEPLANTS
Once I came up with the idea of making a flower shop, I ordered some kits to make flowers and plants (some from Ruth Hanke and others from Bonnie Lavish, absolutely wonderful kits). Of course, my shop needed to have a few houseplants.

FILLED VASES
I'am also seeling filled flower vases, which can be a great gift f.ex. insted of just buying a bouquet of flowers.

LIGHTS ON
I have to admit, I hate wiring, because I'm not really good at it. I recently purchased a couple of DVD's at www.craft-club.com about wiring a dollhouse or a roombox. I must say, they were somehow helpful, but still, it's a hard piece of work and it's definitely NOT AN EASY JOB !!
Buy once the lights are on, the whole things comes to life.

THE FINISHED SHOP
It's October 23rd, 2009 and the shop is finally finished (I must say though I made summer break, +/- 2 1/2 months). I decided that the location of my little flower shop would be Paris, France and therefore, the shop signs are in french.
THE WORKING AREA / GREENHOUSE
I wanted to keep the shop "clean" for the customers, so I had to add a work space outside the shop. I don't know yet how the whole thing will look once it will be finished, but as you can see, my little gardener is very busy. Since I imagined my shop being in Paris, and believe me, I do know the people there :-), I thought the the customers would like their little flower shop to be neat and clean and therefore, another space was needed where the gardener could work.

THE POTTING BENCH
It's not the first time I'm making my own little potting bench, only this one here (the bench only) had been purchased online and I just added the items on it.

PALM TREE
This one was made from a kit from Jeanetta Kendall. Just needs a little paint after assembling the leaves and a pot to plant it in and you're done. Easy to make with a wonderful result. As a finishing touch, I sprayed the plant to give it that shiny look that they often have when you buy them.

THE SHOP AND GREENHOUSE TOGETHER
This is how the whole things looks together. I had a completely different idea though, but in the end, I realized it would take far too much space and so I decided (for now !) to just leave it like this.
Anyway, a miniature scene is never really finished, so there will always be something to do, even on older projects.
I hope you enjoyed my little tour through my dollhouse flower shop. I have a lot more detailed pictures of all the flower arrangements and DIY flowers I made, so if I can be of any help, please let me know and drop me a line at my email : danyslittleworld@yahoo.com
