This is definitely my favorite house. Maybe a little bit because I bought it in NYC, but also because the final result had become a nice combination of american and european houses. In certain countries over the US, this kind of house might be quite typical, but the colors I chose for the outside are more european (Provence in France or Tuscany in Italy). In France, in “Provence”, houses are often painted that color with that specific type of shutters.
And one more thing I love about that house is the outside, the porch, the little garden in the front. Unfortunately, I did not have enough space to put a real garden at the back of the house. In real life, that’s the part I love the most : the garden, being outside, sitting on a little bench in the shadow of a big old tree, planting flowers. Since I don’t have that for real, because there is not enough time left to take care of a garden, I decided to have those in miniature.
It took me approximately 1 year to finish this house and the interior. I work full time which only leaves me a few hours a week for my hobby and, of course, the weekends. For those of you who also have the heart of a real miniaturist, I don’t need to explain the pleasure it gives you to see a box full of wooden parts slowly turn into the house of your dreams. Yes, dreams is the exact word, because sometimes it happens that I do live in my dollhouses …….. but only in my dreams of course. Don't put limits on your fantasy. So, come on in and enjoy the tour.
Share my secrets with me.

Entire View / Back Open As this house does not open in the front, the only way to see inside is the backside, which is open. I need to get a turntable for this one, which will make it a lot easier to access the inside.

This is the blue painted kitchen I used in my very first house. Even though I did not keep the house, I used all the furniture in my later projects. This kitchen is a lot smaller though than the one I had in my first house. The floor is made with a plastic tile sheet

This room is the biggest room in the house, that's why I decided to make it living and dining room. In the picture you see the front part of the room, with a nice living room set and the fire place.

This part of the room is the "dining" part. The curio cabinet in the back is a mini mundus kit with real glass doors and sides and a mirror in the back. I added one of my favorite porcelaine Dining and Coffee Sets.

It took me 3 weeks to finish this piano. It's made from a Mini Mundus kit and has many beautiful details a movable parts. The flower stand in the back is made of white wire and the stove is from Bodo Hennig. The little writing desk comes from a dollhouse shop from Paris, it was a gift from my hubby. The floor is made of marble tiles, glued togther one by one.

At certain periods, woman used to work at home mostly and sewing was one of their many occupations. I'm glad I don't have to sew much, neither in mini nor in real-life sizes, because I'm definitely no good at it. I don't even know how to use a sewing machine properly and my father is a tailor. That's the most terrible thing, don't you think ?
But I grew up in a house where sewing clothes was part of our every day life and I think that must be the reason why you see a sewing machine in almost every of my houses.

After many bad experiences with sewing and trying to make the bed sets myself, I decided it would be best to buy them. Here is a beautiful set of double bedding with cushions and curtains which I thought goes really good with the white wire furniture. If you wonder about the whole in the floor ....... at the time this pic was taken, I had not yet finished the staircase. Most dollhouse shops carry a great choice of spindles, newel posts and railings, either plastic or wooden. They are not very expensive and adding those to a staircase would probably make it less dangerous to access the upper rooms.

Here's the maid taking care of the baby. It has it's own little room with a cradle, a rocking chair, a chest of drawers and a few other pieces, mostly kits assembled and painted. I used a teddy-bear wallpaper for this room. The flooring is made of balsa wood, painted, cut in pieces and assembled on a pre-cut piece of cardboard for a perfect fit to the floor.

This porcelaine bathroom kit is from Mini Mundus as well as the towel rack and most of the accessories. Floor tiles are made of a plastic tile sheet. Just add a few towels, perfume bottles, toilet paper and you have the perfect bathroom.

The older kid in the house has its own room on the upper floor. It is a girl and she likes to play with dollhouses. Here again, the staircase is not finished yet. The floor is made of self adhesive marble plastic sheet, available at most craft shops.
