For little space

Some of you may not have enough space to build an entire dollhouse, although there are a lot with only 3 or 4 rooms, not too big and not too expensive either. But an alternative to a house is always a roombox. You can create one single room, with all the details needed to make it look like a real room. It is of course less expensive and for beginners to the hobby, it might be a nice opportunity to see how far your talent with miniatures goes, without wasting too much time and money.

I made a few roomboxes so far, a music room for my husband, who is a musicien in his free time, a library which was a gift to a friend and a kitchen which I personnally prefer because you have just so many details you can put in such a room, it's awsome.

Take a look at the pictures below, they might give you an idea of how nice a roombox can become if you only don't put limits to your imagination.

If you really don't wanna spend too much money on the roombox itself, instead of purchasing a ready-to-build one at one of the many dollhouse stores, you can always choose to buy some MDF and cut it yourself. But don't forget one thing : in that case, you will of course need the tools to cut 7 or 8 mm MDF, cut out the doors and windows yourself, which is not as easy as it might seem at first. So, if you want my advice : when it's your very first try, buy a ready-to-build one at your local dollhouse store (or online at one of the Internet Shops). They are not that expensive and there is a lot of choice.

One of my favorite Internet Shops for miniatures is Motts Miniatures at www.minishop.com

Here is a link that will get you directly to the page with the roomboxes, to give you an idea of the prices and size.

Have fun.
